Science

In September, we began by looking up at the sky and discussing what we saw. Our class "Weather Bear" became a favorite part of the morning routine, kids loved checking what the weather was like outside and then dressing the bear in just the right outfit (rain boots on rainy days, a cozy sweater when it was chilly!). Along the way, they picked up lots of new words for clothing and began noticing how the seasons start to change. We also explored colors through fall themed art and songs, making leaf collages in rich reds, oranges, and yellows as well as connecting it to drama and singing about falling leaves!
In October, we turned our attention inward with the theme "I Am Unique". We read "The Color Monster", which helped children talk about feelings in a visual way. They practiced naming emotions like happiness, sadness, frustration, and calm, and learned kind ways to handle big feelings. We also learned about our amazing bodies through songs like "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and playful games, practicing naming and pointing to body parts.

We also had lots of fun learning about our amazing bodies! Through songs like "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and playful games, children practiced naming and pointing to body parts: eyes, nose, ears, mouth, hands, and feet. These activities helped build body awareness, vocabulary, and an appreciation for all the wonderful things our bodies can do.

Every activity was hands-on, playful, and designed to meet our 4-year-olds right where they are because at this age, science isn’t just about facts, it’s about wondering, noticing, and feeling safe while exploring the world and themselves.

Children tried themselves as architects, creating man-made landmarks and bringing it into 3D life projects. Later on, we discussed why days are shorter in Moscow and where on the Earth they become longer. Observing nature children learnt some common tree names and checked what kind of leaves they had.
